MDS: Moments

My Digital Studio: Scrapbook Page

Well this is my Scrapbook Page using Stampin' Up!'s: My Digital Studio!  I do have to say I am really loving this program more and more! I learn something new every time I use it!

It is very versatile from being able to use pre-set pages where all you do is add your picture, to being able to start from scratch to make your scrapbook page!  You can also use it to make cards, postcards, and much more! Also I have used it recently to create monograms for wedding invitations that I am making for my Uncle and his wonderful fiance. You will see those as soon as I get them done, and I said I would let them send them out first!

Autumn Days: Masculine Birthday

Do you have trouble with masculine cards? I know I sure do. So I set forth to come up with some masculine cards. It is also my favorite my favorite time of year so I pulled some of favorite Autumn Stamp Sets. Which included Autumn Days.

I first sponged the background with River Rock and then with the Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write Marker I drew two branches freehand. I then used the Chocolate Chip, Cherry Cobbler and Not Quite Navy Stampin' Write Markers to color the maple leaves. I then stamped the Pheasant in Chocolate Chip. I then sponged Not Quite Navy lightly around the outer edges. I then used Cherry Cobbler Cardstock to frame. I used the Stampin' Up! Cutter Kit to distress the edges. The designer paper in the background is Well Worn.

Framed Wall Art

This is a gift I made for my cousin Theresa , that is expecting her 1st baby this year! We are so very excited for them, and that got me thinking, (yes, I know very dangerous) what was I going to make!! Of course she would expect nothing less than something hand crafted being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. SO I started looking for ideas and had came across several "Family Frames" and such, then the light bulb moment came, they already had her name picked out to be Kaylie, I can make a frame and have her name in it!  So here is what I came up with! I love how it turned out!

At first I was going to do a 12"x12" layout, but after starting to do all the squares they seemed to fit better on a 8 1/2"x11", plus this benefited me as well, who knew it could be such a challenge to think of different layout/ designs for all these squares. I also wanted it to look a little worn, so with the Stampin' Up! Cutter Kit, I distressed all the edges of the Melon Mambo and the Flirtatious DSP. Then I sponged the edges of the Flirtatious DSP. Then on the Letters for her name I used the Lovely Letters Alphabet Set, I just love this set it is so elegant, it is hard to tell but I did different backgrounds behind the letters in the opposite color of what the letter was stamped. Then I used my 2-Way Glue Pen around the outer edge of the circles and put Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to make them pop out some more!

Here are a couple of close up shots!!

For the small "love" tag above & the "baby" tag below,  I used the Stampin' Up! Word Window Punch and then attached it to a post it note and put it back in the punch to make it smaller. Also below the little frame around the "baby tag" I used the Decorative Label Punch and did the same thing attaching a post note and turned to punch a smaller frame!

Hope you like my project and if you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment asking or email me at inkinyourway@yahoo.com!

This card I made for my upline Dawn O. She was in the top 100 Demonstrators in the US. Which is really awesome! I wanted to let her know how excited I was and am for her. She was also picked to be on the Advisory Board which I know she will do an awesome job.

Where I have been......

I have been spending a lot of time with family the last couple of weeks. Two weeks ago my younger sister Michelle was not feeling well. She thought she just had the flu along with a terrible migraine. After four visits to the ER and Doctor they finally did a MRI and found three blood clots in the Sinus Resivore of her Brain. This then led to going to Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis where she went in for surgery. They were not able to remove the blood clots, so they had put lines up into her brain with blood thinner shooting directly on the clots. These lines of blood thinner were left there for 24 hours and then she was taken back to the O.R. where they found that the clots had been dissolved and were gone. Because of these blood clots she had a small stroke which had made her weak in the left side, but thankfully after the clots were gone she has been able to regain the strength back and is doing really well. We are so thankful for the amazing doctors at Abbott. She will have to be on blood thinners for at least 6 months.

Also during the days that we were at the hospital with my sister we got news that my Grandmother wasn't doing well, and then the next day that she had passed. This was really hard for us, and we have been spending a lot of time with family.

So I am finally getting back on schedule and will be having cards/projects to share this week!

Sincerely,

Jessica

Flirtatious DSP

I am having fun with the New Flirtatious Designer Paper, it comes with two sheets of pre-die cut doilies. For this card I used some of the fabulous Organza Ribbon and looped it around the doily. I think it added a elegant touch. Added the greeting from the Thank You Kindly Set.

Bring on the Cake with Petite Pennants Builder

The new Stampin' Up! Petite Pennants Builder Punch is really fun and easy to use, for the banner on this card all I did was punch four sets and interchange the design, how simple is that! I then used the Happy Birthday greeting from the set Bring on the Cake. For the background I used the Square Lattice Emboss Folder on the new Wisteria Wonder cardstock and then used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Punch to border! Make sure to check out all the New Stampin' Up! Products, all of it is fun and exciting!

Once again it is time for DoStampingStars Thursday Challenge, this week we were give the Beach Boys for inspiration! Who doesn't love the Beach Boys?

For the inspiration I went with the beach feel, and what is better on the beach the some Flip Flops! And some bright colors, I used Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, and Melon Mambo. I embossed the Melon Mambo and Tempting Turquoise frame with the Square Lattice Emboss Folder, I do have to say this is my favorite emboss folder, I just can't get enough!

For the layout of the card I got inspiration from the fabulous Laurie, this style of card is called the joy fold. Below you can see how it opens! It is a fun opening, thanks for the inspiration Laurie!

On a Pedestal

This fun stamp set On a Pedastal is sadly retiring on June 30th. I have used this set severaly times to make birthday cards for friends and family. I am going to miss this set. This card I used Rich Razzlebery for the base and framed the cake with Melon Mambo and Lap of Luxury DSP. For the top of the cake I stamped on Brights Patterns DSP and cut out and attatched to the top!

Happy Father's Day

I made this fun card for my Dad! It is tough to come up with masculine cards. But I think I succeeded with this cute card. I used the Happy Father's Day greeting from the set All Holidays which is retiring the end of June. I know I said before but I don't think I will be able to part with this set. It has 12 versatile greetings for any occassion. You should check out this Set!

The bear comes from the cute set Under the Stars, which I thought would suit my dad perfectly because our favorite thing to do as a family is going camping!

On the inside I used a greeting from Happy Greetings!

Thursday Challenge#053 Musical Mania: Happy Greetings

For today's Dostamping Stars Thursday Challenge, was musical mania. We were given the poster from An American in Paris for our inspiration.  I do have to admit I was a little puzzled this week and unsure where to start.

So I decided to start with the colors in the poster and I used Real Red and Pacific Point. The greeting Hello Hello Hello comes from the stamp set Happy Greetings that is currently in the Stampin' Up! Summer Mini!  I also decided to add some Paper Daisies and I dyed them with Baja Breeze and Real Red Classic Ink.

Circle Circus meets All Holidays

With Stampin' Up!'s Retired List out on June 1st. I have to say I was very sad to see the stamp set All Holidays on there. This set has 12 versatile greetings to use year round. I have begun to separate out my retired items to make way for the new but I don't think I will be able to part with this set.

I used the fun Circle Circus Set for the background in Concord Crush. I stamped the greeting in Concord Crush as well and then punched it out with the 2 1/2" Circle Punch, sponged the outside with the Concord Crush. Oh and are you wondering where the border came from .... well, I took the new Doily Triple Layer Punch and punched out six of them in whisper white then I sponged them softly with you guessed it.. Concord Crush, and then adhered them around the outside. I really love the look of this.. you may see more soon!

Sunny Fun

This is card uses the stamp set Sunny Fun.  This set comes from the Stampin' Up! 2011 Summer Mini. I wanted to make a couple of Thank you cards for the coaches of my sisters Special Olympics Softball team, and thought with all the hot practices they go through that this set would fit perfectly. I think I will also bring the team some ice cream!! Who wouldn't love that!!

For the card I embossed the background piece with the Polk-a-dot Emboss Folder, and I stamped the ice cream cones and greeting "that was so cool of you....thanks" in Tangerine Tango and then colored the cones using my Marinia Mist Stampin' Write Marker. Which by the way Tangerine Tango is one of my favorite colors and I realized when making this card that I have hardly used it since Stampin' Up! brought it back last year! I hate when stuff gets neglected. Oh well, I digress.....so back to my card, I added some Marinia Mist cardstock in the background to frame and some Marinia Mist taffeta ribbon! This was really a simple and fast card, hope you enjoy!

Thursday Challenge Sketch Pad SSC # 052: Happy Greetings

It is my favorite day of the week, because we have the DOstamping Stars Thursday Challenges. It is a way to get me to dig into something different! I do have to say that the Sketch Pad is my favorite challenge. Does anyone else notice that sometimes you have a tendency to go to the same layout for most of your cards. I know I surely do so by having a sketch to go by makes me brake out of that typical pattern.

So onto my card for this week!

Supplies: Stamp Set: Happy Greetings(Summer Mini) ; Cardstock: Naturals Ivory, Poppy Parade, Basic Black; Ink: Poppy Parade, Concord Crush(both Stampin' Write Markers); Accessories: 1/2" Concord Crush Stitched-Poly Ribbon, Neutral Brads, Lattice Emboss Folder

I decided to rotate the card for this sketch! I have a couple of graduations that I needed cards for so that is why I turned to this greeting from the set Happy Greetings that is currently in the Stampin' Up! Summer Mini Catalog.  Are you wondering "how did she get the center word in a different color?" Well, I use my Stampin' Write Markers to ink the stamp so I can change the color on different or key words. Isn't that the greatest! I also thought that there needed to be a little more than just the greeting so added this cute little punch art grad hat, and on the background piece I added texture to the background piece with the Lattice Emboss Folder for the Big Shot! I really like how this card turned out.

Thursday Challenge#050 Color My World: Fun & Fast Notes

It's time for another DoStamping Thursday Challenge and this week is Color my World. Lucky for me it was three of my favorite colors: Old Olive, Early Espresso and Baja Breeze.

So here I had a starting point with the cards but have you ever just been stuck and not sure where to start.... Well I was having one of those days so I started flipping thru my Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog, because this is what it is for right ideas and why not case something out of our fabulous catalog, and saw this cute card on pg. 70 using the stamp set Fun & Fast Notes and I changed a few things and decided to make it a 3x3 note card. I thought the colors would be great to go with a gift for a co-worker that is having a little boy in June! On the front I left the greeting off and stamped that inside and on the front I used "baby" from the Tiny Tags stamp set. I also stamped on the 3x3 envelope to cordinate.

Supplies: Stamp Set: Fun & Fast Notes, Tiny Tags; Cardstock: Old Olive, Early Espresso, Baja Breeze; Ink: Basic Black; Accessories: Scallop Edge Punch, Jewelery Tag Punch, Metallic Brads

Best Wishes Gift Card Holder

I was looking through some different techniques that I have used in the past and was reminded of this cute gift card holder. I used Baja Breeze and Early Espresso Cardstock for this card. On the front I used the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder and then with a sponge I lightly rubbed Early Espresso to make the embossing look more vintage. Then the greeting comes from the stamp set Sincere Salutations and the small flowers in the corners come from the stamp set Always Elegant. I then rounded two corners with the 3/16" Corner Small punch. To tie the gift card holder shut I used 3/8" Early Espresso  Taffeta Ribbon!

For this card it measures 4 1/2" x 5 3/4" when opened fully. The insert measures 4 1/4 x 11, you then fold the insert in half and use the Word Window Punch and punch twice to make the opening big enough to fit a gift card and then in the middle use a 1 1/4" Circle Punch and only punch half a circle for a spot to grip the gift card.

The greeting on the inside comes from the hostess level 3 set  Occassional Quotes and Always Elegant.

Happiness Always

Well it is wedding season and I have been having fun making wedding cards! This card is similar to a mother's day card I made, you can see it here. The dsp paper I used is Presto Patterns, it comes all white with glossy designs and with a brayer or sponge you can turn the designs into any color paper you want! How cool is that!

I like making monochramitic cards or tone on tone, this card uses basic black, whisper white, basic gray and I used the brushed silver paper at the bottom. This stamp set Happy Greetings is in the Summer Mini Catalog, and one of my favorites! The flowers come from the Hostess set Punch Potporri and stamped with basic gray.

Thursday Challenge#049: Musical Mania: Happy Greetings

Today's challenge to get inspired from the musical, My Fair Lady.

I took inspiration from the colors in the poster. I went with basic black, whisper white and melon mambo. I also wanted to use a flower, like the one on her hat so I used the   big shot die.

I like to have clean, simple cards and this one fits the bill! Hope you like it!
